Each article ThirdDraft finishes for your site arrives in WordPress as a post, with its pictures, search title and description.

== Description ==

ThirdDraft researches and writes articles for your site. This plugin connects your WordPress site to ThirdDraft, so every finished article becomes a post here without copying and pasting.

* **One click to connect.** Click Connect in WordPress, confirm in ThirdDraft, and you are done. There is nothing to copy or type.
* **Native posts.** Headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, tables, code and pictures arrive as blocks you can edit like any other. Sites that use the classic editor get the same article as classic content.
* **Pictures in your Media Library.** Every picture is copied into your Media Library with its alt text, and the first one becomes the featured image.
* **Your SEO plugin, filled in.** The search title, description and focus keyword go into Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress or The SEO Framework, whichever you use. A value you change yourself is never overwritten.
* **Published or saved as a draft.** You choose in ThirdDraft. A post that is already live stays live, with its address and date, when an article is updated.
* **Nothing duplicated.** An article sent again updates its post. WordPress keeps the earlier text in the post's revisions.

The plugin has two settings, both optional: which author the posts are by, and which category they go in.

= What you need =

* A ThirdDraft account with this site added to it.
* WordPress 5.6 or later and PHP 7.2 or later.
* HTTPS on your site.

== Installation ==

1. Download the plugin from your ThirdDraft account, or from https://thirddraft.com/wordpress/thirddraft.zip.
2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file and click Install Now.
3. Click Activate. WordPress opens Settings → ThirdDraft.
4. Click Connect to ThirdDraft, sign in to ThirdDraft if asked, choose Publish or Save as draft, and click Connect.

The page says Connected once ThirdDraft has reached your site. Articles arrive as they are finished.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Where do I choose between publishing and saving drafts? =

In ThirdDraft, when you connect, and later in ThirdDraft's Publishing settings for your site.

= Can I edit a post after it arrives? =

Yes. It is an ordinary WordPress post. If ThirdDraft sends a newer version of the same article, the post's text is updated and your earlier text stays in its revisions. Search titles, descriptions and keywords you changed yourself are kept.

= What happens to a published post when its article is updated? =

It stays published, at the same address and with the same date.

= I deleted a post by mistake. =

Restore it from the trash, or send the article again from ThirdDraft: a post in the trash counts as gone, and a new one is made.

= The page says ThirdDraft couldn't reach this site. =

The page lists what to fix. Most often a security plugin or firewall blocks requests to the address articles arrive at; allow requests to the address shown on the page. Then click Try again.

= The page says the site's clock is off. =

ThirdDraft's requests are valid for five minutes. Ask your host to correct the server's time.

= Does the plugin work on multisite? =

Yes. Each site connects on its own, from its own Settings → ThirdDraft.

= How do updates arrive? =

From ThirdDraft, on the Plugins and Updates screens like any other plugin. Automatic updates are switched on when the plugin is first activated; you can switch them off on the Plugins screen.

= What happens if I deactivate or delete the plugin? =

Deactivating keeps the connection and settings, but ThirdDraft can't deliver while the plugin is inactive. When you activate it again, the plugin asks ThirdDraft to check the connection, and the articles that waited arrive. Deleting the plugin removes its settings and connection. Your posts and pictures stay, so installing the plugin again updates them rather than making copies.

== External services ==

This plugin connects your site to ThirdDraft (https://thirddraft.com), the service that writes your articles. It talks to ThirdDraft only for the following:

* **Connecting.** When you click Connect, your browser goes to ThirdDraft with your site's address, the address articles are sent to, the plugin and WordPress versions, and one-time values that secure the connection. Your site then fetches the connection's secret from ThirdDraft directly.
* **Receiving articles.** ThirdDraft sends each finished article, signed with that secret, to your site. The plugin downloads the article's pictures from ThirdDraft.
* **Try again and Disconnect.** When you click either, your site sends ThirdDraft the connection's id, signed with the secret.
* **Checks and updates.** The plugin's page checks that your site can reach ThirdDraft, and WordPress checks https://thirddraft.com/wordpress/plugin.json for new versions of the plugin.
